Driven by an unwavering commitment to child welfare and social justice, Ms. Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR). Her vision is anchored in fostering a compassionate, inclusive and child-centric ecosystem where every child is empowered to realise their fullest potential in an environment of safety, dignity and opportunity.
In her leadership role, Ms. Bawa works in close collaboration with government departments, district administrations, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies and civil society organisations to strengthen Punjab’s child protection framework. She actively oversees the implementation of child rights legislation, monitors Child Care Institutions, reviews rehabilitation mechanisms and advocates for policies that safeguard the welfare, education and holistic development of children.
Believing that awareness is the cornerstone of prevention, Ms. Bawa regularly leads outreach initiatives across schools, colleges and communities, engaging with students, parents and educators on issues concerning child rights, protection and well-being. She has consistently championed campaigns promoting Child Helpline 1098, child safety, mental well-being, protection from abuse, anti-child trafficking initiatives and community participation in creating secure environments for children.
With empathy, integrity and a profound sense of public service, Ms. Bawa continues to inspire collaborative action among institutions and communities alike. Her dedication extends beyond policy advocacy, translating into meaningful grassroots engagement that amplifies children’s voices and nurtures a culture of awareness, accountability and care.
